Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, you can park in the driveway if there’s room, or on the side of the building on the street. You can find additional parking in the Purple Lot next door - it’s free after 5pm and on weekends.

How can therapy help me?

Most of our clients report that therapy helps by giving them an objective, non-judgmental person to talk to about their life. Therapy provides someone who doesn’t have a vested interest in what decisions you make, but who cares deeply about helping you find peace and happiness.

Our therapists are trained in various methods that allow them to not only listen well but to take an active role in the therapy hour to provide relief and healing. You can get much more out of therapy than you would get from talking to a friend or parent, because you are working with a professional toward the goals you set together at the beginning of treatment.

Do you take insurance, and how does that work?

This is a great question. We have decided not to work directly with insurance companies for a number of reasons. First, they require us to give you a mental disorder diagnosis. Many of our clients don’t have a mental disorder, but just need help building coping skills and self esteem. In turn, that mental disorder diagnosis would go on your permanent medical record.

Second, many insurance companies put extensive restrictions on what types of services they will cover. For example, many insurance companies do not cover marriage and family counseling. Additionally, because of these restrictions, many of your choices about treatment options are limited. We want the decisions about your treatment to be between your therapist and you only, and not have a third party involved in making those decisions.

Finally, billing insurance jeopardizes your confidentiality. If we submitted a bill to your insurance on your behalf, your confidential information is processed by the insurance company and stored in a database. Anyone who is involved in the processing or handling of your claim may have access to your records.

Therefore, you will be responsible for payment at the time of service. If you request, we can provide a superbill which will have all of the necessary information you may need to submit a claim to your insurance company for possible reimbursement.

Do you have evening appointments?

We do offer evening appointments as we understand this is the best time for many people to come to therapy. The days and times vary depending on the therapist.

How long are sessions?

The intake session is 90 minutes, and every subsequent session is 60 or 90 minutes depending on the client’s needs. Clients can make the choice to schedule a 60 or 90 minute session via the client portal.

How do I schedule an appointment?

We utilize online scheduling through a software called Simple Practice. You will be sent a new link to your email each time you need to sign into the client portal. You can access the client portal via our website homepage by clicking the button: Client Portal Login. You can cancel or reschedule appointments as you wish. We welcome clients to schedule out several appointments in order to get their desired time slot.

Do you offer online counseling?

We do offer online counseling and utilize Simple Practice Telehealth to conduct sessions.

Do you offer an initial consultation?

We offer a free 20 minute phone call  with Stephanie, our administrative assistant, where you can learn about the various therapists and get all your questions answered prior to scheduling your first session.

What is your cancellation policy?

We ask that you cancel appointments with a minimum of 24 hours notice. If an appointment is cancelled with less than 24 hours notice, we will charge the full session fee. This is because each appointment time slot is set aside specifically for you, and less than 24 hours is not enough time to make the appointment available to other clients needing to schedule.

What type of clients do you work with?

We work with adolescents, young adults, and adults.

What is your approach?

Our approaches vary between clinician. As a group, our approach is eclectic as we draw from various theories and methods to treating mental health problems. Some of our favorite approaches to individual therapy work are Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, EMDR, Internal Family Systems, Attachment Theory, and Motivational Interviewing. For couples work, we love The Gottman Method, Imago, and Emotionally Focused Therapy.

How long will it take?

The length of treatment can vary greatly between clients depending on what they are hoping to gain from therapy. We recommend a minimum of 6 sessions to start. Most clients need more than that.

Are you licensed?

Yes, we have therapists that are licensed by the state of Indiana to provide clinical social work, mental health counseling, and clinical addictions counseling.
